What I'm Reading - 2024

The Phoenix Project

The Phoenix Project was a real eye-opener for me. I could relate every character to someone in my career, which significantly enhanced my understanding of DevOps and The Three Ways.
I highly recommend it to any technology enthusiast

The Kubernetes Book 2024

I recently dove back into Nigel Poulton's latest edition of his Kubernetes book, and it's been just as enlightening as my first read of his 2021 edition. Back then, I was beginning to immerse myself in Kubernetes, and now, having re-certified my CKA, this book has proven invaluable once again. Poulton's ability to explain advanced topics with clarity and depth is truly remarkable. Whether you're just starting out or seeking detailed insights into Kubernetes, this book is a must-read.

The Unicorn Project

The Unicorn Project was a fantastic follow-up to The Phoenix Project. It delves deeper into the world of DevOps, but this time with a focus on the developer experience and the importance of enabling engineers to do their best work. The story emphasizes the Five Ideals—Locality and Simplicity, Focus, Flow, and Joy, Improvement of Daily Work, Psychological Safety, and Customer Focus—which I found incredibly insightful. Like its predecessor, the characters felt so real that I could easily see parallels with people I've worked with. If you're into DevOps and want to understand how to drive true innovation and transformation, this book is a must-read.
